CONEXTRU GmbH designs and manufactures standard pipe heads as well special pipeheads according to customers requirements.
Application standard pipe heads
The product lines for standard mono- & multi-layer heads covers a range from 5 mm pipes up to 2500 mm for following applications:
- Micro duct for Telecom
- Non-pressure sewer (filled an foamed) and pressure water
- Hot water with PEX, PB-1, PERT, PPR
- Barrier pipes with EVOH or PA
- Oil & gas for high temperature & high pressure for with PA, PVDF, PPS
- Chemical use with flour & styrene’s polymers
Application cross heads
The product lines for mono- & multi- layer cross heads covers a range from 10 mm pipes up to 1200 mm for following applications:
- Steel pipe coating at high thru put
- PP protection layer
- Multilayer structure with adhesive, EVOH or PA as barrier
Melt distribution systems
Conextru´s pipe head design based on following melt channel distribution system:
- Helical spiral distributor with high thru put capacity for single layer heads and for for co-extrusion heads as main layer
- Helical spiral distributor with low thru put capacity for thin coextruded layer
- Helical spiral distributor special designed for EVOH, Adhesive, PA and for all low viscosity polymers at low throughput capacity for thin layer in case of co-extrusion.
- Radial spiral distributor for low operation capacity as single layer head or up to 5 layer for co-extrusion in very short length and side feeding of melt or for thin coextruded outer layer
Processing features of helical and radial melt distribution
- Low shear rate even at high thru put to the melt: Leads to controllable process temperatures.
- Low volume and short residence time, short in total length: Leads to low thermal load to the material with short cleaning time.
- Low pressure built up: Leads to low melt temperature increase in the extruder and lower pump energy consumption.
- Best eccentricity and wall close wall distribution of main and coax layers: Leads to lower material use and savings in material cost.
- Short length die sets: Leads to smooth surface and less thermal stress.
Handling and operation features
- IPC – Internal Pipe Cooling: Leads to cooling length reduction up to 40 %.
- IHC – internal head cooling by air: Leads to stable temperatures during production at low operation cost.
- Horizontal die and mandrel change: Leads easy handling and time saving for tool change.
Add on die sets:
- Master die set always kept within centring unit, all other die sets mounted one by one to master die set: Leads short time for tool change and short start up time.
- Large diameter range for each die: A new die design makes 4 pipe dimensions diameters with 1 die possible.
Optional execution
- Thermal centring: Leads to uniform flow and low eccentricity.

The product line for monolayer PVC heads covers a range from 12 mm pipes up to 1200 mm for following applications:
- U-PVC & M-PV pressure pipes as well O-PVC heavy wall as feedstock pipes
- Sewer & waste water, air ducts non pressure pipes highly filled
- Hot water C-PVC pipes
- Chemical use of large diameter C-PVC pipes
Melt distribution systems
Conextru´s pipe head design based on following system:
- Single spider for standard application
- Double spider for heads with enlarged diameter range
Processing & handling features of PVC heads
- Wide outer diameter range each head size
- Pressure class PN 16 for all dimensions each head.
- High compression on big wall thickness with compression ration higher than 5
- Large volume to get smooth inside surface
- Wide output range residence time 3 minutes to max. 15 minutes
- Special shape of torpedo tip to get fast purging and uniform flow
- Same die set be used on other head due to range adapters
- Thermal centering die with isolation by slots and 8 heating zones as standard
- Mandrels consisting of basic mandrel and mandrel front part for each SDR
- Ceramic heaters as standard, internal cylindrical heaters with best and uniform heat distribution
- Standard execution is 42CrMo4 with chrome plated flow channel, torpedo made of stainless steel.
- Stainless steel execution as option and for C-PVC processing
Double strand extrusion
- This new PV heads also used for double strand execution with Y- bock, center distance as requested
- For the double strand are 3 sizes available, PV 63 – 2, PV 110 – 2, PV 160 – 2 HP
- PV 160 – 2 HP is a high performance modification of a standard PV 160 to reach 2 000 kg/h in double strand per hour
- This heads also in combination with calibrators and vacuum spray tanks as well spray tanks
